
World Youth and Teenag Geography Competition

The online World Youth and Teenag Geography Competition consists of three core components: Basic Geography, such as globe and map interpretation, the distribution of the seven continents and four oceans, and the correspondence between climate types and natural landscapes; Geographical Phenomena and Principles, covering the relationship between plate tectonics and topography, the causes of monsoon climates, and the interaction between human activities and the geographical environment; and Practical Geography, including basic operations with common geographic information tools (such as electronic maps), simulated regional geographical analysis, and the basic application of geographical knowledge in daily life (such as planning travel luggage based on climate characteristics).
The competition features a variety of question types, with difficulty levels adjusted to age and knowledge level. The children's competition focuses on mastering basic knowledge, while the youth competition emphasizes the application of geographical principles and problem-solving skills.

The deadline for award applications is two weeks after the announcement of the results.
All awards will be mailed within eight weeks after the application deadline.
Awards and certificates will be sent via SF Express, cash on delivery.
Once the awards are signed for, no replacements will be issued in case of damage or loss.
The organizers are not responsible for failed deliveries due to incorrect information or communication difficulties.

Entry Requirements:
1. Basic Geography
This course focuses on core geographical concepts, including the Earth's basic structure and motion (such as rotation and revolution), map types and interpretation methods (such as topographic maps and climate maps), and the characteristics of physical geographical units (such as continents and oceans, landforms, and climate zones). It systematically examines the fundamental framework of human geography, including population distribution and migration, urban and rural settlement types, the relationship between industrial activities and the geographical environment, and the meaning and application of geographical terms (such as latitude and longitude, contour lines, and pressure zones). It covers the geographical characteristics of different regions and their manifestation in human activities, and provides a deep understanding of the basic classification rules of geographical objects, the operating laws of geographical systems, and geographical diversity—including the factors involved in geographical phenomena, the evolution of geographical processes, and an overview of major geographical fields (such as physical geography, human geography, and regional geography).
2. Geographical Phenomena and Scientific Principles
This course explores the causes, mechanisms, and impacts of geographical events, such as the triggering factors of volcanoes and earthquakes, the internal logic of ocean current changes, and the occurrence and transmission of climate anomalies (such as El Niño). Analyze the operating and regulating principles of the geographical environment (e.g., latitudinal zonation of natural zones, mechanisms of human intervention in ecosystems) and core theories of geography (e.g., plate tectonics, central place theory). In-depth study is provided on the interrelationship between physical and human geography, the drivers of geographical environmental change (e.g., global warming, urbanization), and the cyclical patterns of geographical phenomena (e.g., seasonal changes, riverine landform evolution). The impact of human activities on the geographical environment is also explored (e.g., changes in land resources due to agricultural reclamation, and the impact of industrial development on the atmospheric environment).
3. Geographic Practice and Application
Strengthen practical geographical skills, including the use of common geographical tools (e.g., globes, electronic maps, and weather observatories) and the processing of basic geographical tasks (e.g., regional surveys, geographic data statistics, and simple topographic mapping). Through case studies simulating real-world geographical scenarios, students interpret geographical data (e.g., climate maps, population density maps), assess the strengths and weaknesses of regional geographical environments (e.g., natural resource distribution, transportation accessibility), and plan appropriate human activity plans for specific regions (e.g., rural industrial layout, urban green space planning). Beginning to use geographic calculation tools to conduct simple geographic analysis, such as distance measurement, area estimation, and climate data comparison.

The diverse question types include multiple-choice, fill-in-the-blank, short-answer, essay, and geographic solution design . The difficulty level is adjusted based on the participant's age and knowledge level. The Children's Division focuses on memorizing basic knowledge and simple application, while the Youth Division emphasizes a deep understanding of geographical principles and the ability to solve complex geographic problems.
